Top Players in TCA Basketball History

At The Christian Academy, basketball is more than just a game; it’s a platform for developing character, teamwork, and excellence. Reaching the 1,000-point milestone is a rare and commendable achievement, and over the years, several of our athletes have left an indelible mark on our program by joining this elite group. On January 16th, Sir Guy Epps Jr. became the 21st player in school history to reach this milestone. He is just the third student to reach 1,000 points since the year 2000.

Let’s take a look back at all those who have achieved that mark at TCA.

The year 1977 was monumental for our basketball program, with not one but two players crossing the 1,000-point threshold. Levi Thompson, our all-time leading scorer, set the standard with an incredible 1,580 career points. Joining him that year was Scott Lowery, who tallied an impressive 1,346 points, cementing their place as trailblazers in our school’s basketball history.

More than a Game

Basketball has a way of connecting people, and our program is no exception. Grant Sareyka, who graduated in 2020 with 1,337 points, shares a unique connection with his wife, Grace Gormley (now Grace Sareyka), a 2019 graduate who also achieved the 1,000-point milestone. Their shared love of the game brought them together, and they continue to inspire with their commitment to faith, family, and community. Another memorable player is Kevin Sareyka (Class of 1992), Grant’s uncle, who also scored over 1,000 points. This family duo highlights the generational legacy of basketball at our school.

Each of these players has contributed to a rich legacy of success and faith-driven leadership. Their achievements remind us that milestones are not only about the numbers but also about the character and hard work it takes to reach them.
