Ransom Coffeen at TCA
Eric Wildermuth

Meet Mr. Coffeen, one of our new faculty members this school year!

At The Christian Academy, we celebrate the unique stories and experiences each teacher brings to the classroom. Mr. Ransom Coffeen, one of our new faculty members this year, is no exception. His passion for meaningful work, his warm reflections on community, and his love of storytelling are already making a positive impact here at TCA.

Mr. Coffeen expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm and welcoming environment at our school. “It’s been a great time,” he shared. “The teachers here are awesome, and everyone I’ve talked to has been very helpful.” His appreciation for our Christ-centered community echoes the values that make TCA special—a place where servant leadership and relational growth create a supportive culture for students, staff, and families alike. Mr. Coffeen teaches middle school english and history.

Having attended a similar Christian school during his high school years, Mr. Coffeen offered advice to our students: "It’s a great gift to have this community here. Cherish the Godliness of this place—it’s an awesome thing.” His words reflect the importance of recognizing and appreciating the blessings of a Christ-centered education, even when it may not be fully realized in the moment.

When asked about his favorite book of the Bible, Mr. Coffeen immediately named Ecclesiastes. “I’m a big fan,” he said. “It really encourages you to enjoy your life and the work that God has given you.” As he shared, the wisdom of Ecclesiastes has shaped his perspective on finding joy in the everyday, especially in the work God has called us to do.

Growing up outside Chicago as the fifth of seven siblings, Mr. Coffeen’s family was filled with creativity—even in naming! Two of his siblings are named after Lord of the Rings characters. “They’re awesome people, taught me well,” he said with a smile. This close-knit family background contributes to the thoughtful and relational perspective he brings to his work.

Music has played an inspiring role in Mr. Coffeen’s life. As a younger man, he admired Elvis Presley’s classic hits. In recent years, his go-to band has been Switchfoot.

We’re grateful for the thoughtful wisdom and joyful presence Mr. Coffeen brings to TCA. Whether it’s through his appreciation for Scripture, his passion for teaching, or his encouragement to embrace the Godly community around us, Mr. Coffeen is has been helping to shape our school culture in wonderful ways.
